Redknap rules out managing Nigeria in the future

Former Tottenham and Portsmouth manager have laughed off the rumors that linked him with the prospect of taking over the Super Eagles from Gernot Rohr.

It was reported during the week that the experience English gaffer who has been out of management since 2017 is favored by Sports Ministry to replace Gernot Rohr, should he failed to sign a new deal.

However, the rumors were squashed after Nigeria Federation Federation has since announced that the Franco-German tactician has put pen to paper for a new deal that will keep him in charge of the three-time African champions until 2022.

In his reaction to the reports linking him with the job, Redknapp joked that he considered putting his house on sale in order to move his family to Nigeria.

“Yeah, well, I spoke to Sandra and she’s always wanted to live in Nigeria.

“She said it’s amazing that this has come up now because that was her dream. So we’re looking to sell up, we’re putting the house on the market. We’re looking to get somewhere over there if possible. I’m sure, she’d love it there. I’ve told her, she’d absolutely love it. I’m ready to go!’

The 73-year-old concluded by ruling out possibilities of managing the west African nations in the future.

“I actually went there a few years ago with Portsmouth, we played Manchester United, but I don’t think I’ll really be going back.” He said.
