Rivers United Boss Eguma calls for support ahead of MFM test

Rivers United Chief coach Stanley Eguma has called on the Club fans to get behind the ahead of the mouthwatering clash against inform MFM football club of Lagos in the match day five in the2019 Nigeria professional football league.

The Pride of Rivers played 1-1 draw away to Sunshine Stars of Akure in the match day four at the Akure Township stadium but the Eguma was eager to get all three points against Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side on Sunday.

While reflecting on the previous game against the Akure Gunners, Eguma regretted his side’s inability to wrap up all the three points, while adding that his side must avoid same mistake against MFM.

“We should have won that game,”

“I hate making excuses so it’s hard to come to terms with why we failed to win the game.

“We also came close (to winning) our opening game of the season against Niger Tornadoes in Minna but missed three excellent chances in the second half.

MFM is currently the best team in our group of the abridged leagueas they have won their last two games (against Kwara United andEnugu Rangers) after losing to Enyimba in Aba on the openingweekend of the league.

“We know what to expect. We are not going to try to win 1-0. No,that’s not what we want to do.

We must get it right against MFM in Port Harcourt in our next game,” he said.

Eguma added that he’s not setting any target for the team rather he’s focused on winning titles with the Club this season.

“We want to win everything this season. That is the target.

“I told the boys before we played our first game (of the season against Niger Tornadoes) that the mindset has to be getting a win in Minna, a very difficult place and we almost did it.

“It was the same (mindset) before we faced Sunshine Stars and we were even closer to winning against a very good opponent at a very tough place,” he said.

MFM are on top of group A of the 2018/19 NPFL season with six points with Rivers United in sixth place after two points from three games.
