Former Super Eagles Forward Victor Agali has reacted to the contract situation of Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr with the NFF and labeled it as a distraction.
The current contract of the Franco-German tactician will expire in July and the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick insisted that he’s must agree to be paid in naira, live in Nigeria and travel to watch local league games before he can be offered an extension.
While Rohr has reiterated his desire to continue in his role as Super Eagles technical adviser, the clauses for the new deal proposed by the Nigeria Football Federation has generated a lot of debates in the media.
Igali who is working as a scout for the Nigeria Football Federation has now disclosed that bringing the contract clauses to the public domain is a distraction, but trust the NFF to make things right.
“The contract issue with Rohr is a mere distraction which is supposed to be out of the public.
“We trust the NFF and the board members that will take the right decision.
“We don’t need to ridicule the whole thing”. He told brila.net.
Gernot Rohr was hired in 2016 and has qualified the Super Eagles for the 2018 Russia world cup and 2019 African cup of Nations where they finish third.
He signed an initial three-year deal upon his arrival, but the Federation extended his contract by twelve months after qualifying the Super Eagles for the 2018 world cup.
The 41-year-old played 12 times for the Super Eagles of Nigeria scoring 5 goals between 2000 to 2004.
