Samuel Kalu Returns To Team Hotel After Collapsing In Training

Super Eagles winger Samuel Kalu is back in the team’s hotel after he was rushed to the hospital on Friday during the team’s training session ahead of the Group B opener against Burundi in Alexandria.

The winger collapsed during the three time African Champions training session as a result of the state of the current weather in Egypt.

The official of Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the wingersuffered from dehydration as a result of the hot weather condition in Egypt .

“I have been told Samuel Kalu has been stabilized,” said NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire.

“He was taken to hospital for tests and he has been certified okay.

“He was dehydrated, they said. “They told him he needs to be taking enough fluids.”

It was reported that the temperatures in Egypt is between 35 and 38 degrees, which has led CAF to agree to water breaks during matches at the AFCON in Egypt.

However, it’s unclear whether Gernot Rohr will include the winger in the team to face Burundi on Saturday.

Gernot Rohr team will take on the Swallows of Burundi in their opening game of the competition on Saturday.
