Suspected killers of policman nabbed in Lagos

Police refute online report on salary deduction, campaign against former IGP

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested sis suspected Six members of a robbery gang that allegedly killed a policeman and snatched his AK 47 riffle.
The State Commissioner of police, Mr. Idowu Owphunwa,during a parade of suspects at the State Command headquarters, Ikeja,said the suspects were arrested last month .
According to him, ” On August 3, 2023 at about 10: Pm,based on intelligence on the armed robbery incident around Airport Hotel, Ikeja ,that led to the brutal murder of a police officer and the carting away of his rifle . Operatives of the command, embarked on a discreet investigation and arrested Salami Ahmed,30, Ismaila Adio, 22, Toheeb Muri, 23, Seyi Olajide,24, Nelson Sunday, 34, and James Nnamani, 24, in their hideout in Alagbado and Amikanle areas of the state.
“One AK47 rifle with 21 of live ammunition were recovered from them . This syndicate is also responsible for robbing a popular night club in Ikeja on July 19, 2023
” .The Command uses this opportunity to advice individuals and companies seeking police services to follow the right channel to avoid falling into the wrong hands.
” To this end, I have set up a taskforce headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to checkmate illegal duty by officers by identifying such officers and promptly arresting them for further disciplinary action.
” On August 10,2023 at about 1. 30 Pm, operatives of the Command arrested one Solomon Ochohepor,40 and Abu Ibrahim, 47 for impersonation.
” The duo were impersonating as mobile police officers guarding an Estate were arrested when they were trying to effect an arrest on a case reported by a lady who thought they were genuine officers.
” One fabricated AK47 rifle with three live ammunition, a pair of police camouflage uniform, a jack knife,and police identity card were recovered from the suspects.
” On August 9,2023 between 4 am and 6am , based on intelligence about the activities of criminal elements using Orile White-sand under bridge as hideout and other black spots within the community.
” Operatives of the command stormed the scene and arrested the 38 suspects: Aliu Babatunde, 18, Amsa Ibrahim,35, Sodiq Musbau,21, Francis Omwuekhe, 26, Kazeem Adisa, 33, Yahaya Issa, aged 33, Ibrahim Issa,25, Umaru Sanni,37, Umaru Idris, 37, Haruna Abdullah,19, Bairi Nafiu, 22, Mykinta Muhammad ,25, Emeka Ikechukwu, 35, Isaac Tobi Adebayo, 37, Bright Ahamefune, 25, Babagana Kawu Adamu, 23, and Ibrahim Muhammed Shetima, 23.
“Others are : Abubakar Mygana,23, Muhammad Baba,24, Abdulrasheed Bello,28, Muri Olanrewaju, 40, Sunday Olidusem, 56, Bagandida Garba, 32, Sulaiman Yusuf,30, Sunday Odeyemi, 40, Saheed Abubakar,35, Godwin Emmanuel, 32, Eyong Andrew,27, Adebayo Idowu, 49, Kingsley Udeh, 38, Joseph Ezekiel, 27, Alih Muhammad, 23, Abduljeli Fatai,20, Ismaila Amuda, 28, Francis Kelvin, 33, Jonathan Ezegboya, 52, Kingsley Udeh, 21,and Abdulsalam Abubakar “.

” 32 machetes, two live cartridges, two hoods, black pipes, some quantities of weed suspected to be Indian hemp and two bags containing fake US Dollars, and fake pound sterling notes were recovered.
” On August 18, 2023 at about 2am, based on intelligence gathering on the activities of some suspected cultists, operatives of the Command, raided their hideouts at Sabo-Yaba, and Ijesha-Surulere areas , where one Daniel Ojo,35,and Giwa Quadri ,36 were arrested.”
“The following items were recovered from both scenes: One pump action rifle, one locally made pistol, three live cartridges, three expended cartridges, three branded machetes, two award plaque from Buccaneer fraternity and one Buccaneer banner among other incriminating items.” the Lagos CP stated .

He added that, Investigation was ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members and recover their operational arms.”
