Mainz 05 has dedicated their win over Borussia Dortmund to Nigeria striker Taiwo Awoniyi who is out injured.
Mainz 05 pulled one of the biggest results since the Bundesliga returned by beating highly flying Borussia Dortmund 2 – 0 at the Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday.
It would be recalled that Taiwo Awoniyi was ruled out of the game after he suffered a concussion in the game against Augsburg at the weekend.
In Awoniyi’s absence, Jean-Philippe Mateta ( penalty) and Jonathan Burkhardt score both goals for Mainz 05 to hand them all the three points.
The club shared the photo of the team holding Awoniyi’s jersey and dedicated the victory to the striker who could miss their game.

Meanwhile, Mainz 05 are now 15th on the table, with 34 points from 32 matches played.
