Tremor lasted 10 minutes! Nigerian Zakynthos Striker Narrates ordeal during Earthquake

Zakynthos forward Besto Azu has recounted the horror of the 6.8 magnitude Earthquake tremor that rocked the Island while he was in bed at 2am.

 

In an exclusive interview with Cornerstonenewsng.comAzu, said the aftershock which occurred at 2am was so terrible he couldn’t move in bed.  The tremors were felt across parts of Europe too.

Azu, who joined the local Zante club this year, told footballlive.ng in an exclusive interview, that he couldn’t move from the bed when the second tremor that lasted 10 minutes struck.

 

“The first one happened around 1:45am on the 26th. It lasted for like a minute or two. Then the second, which was a bigger tremor happened around 2am; all the buildings were shaking.

“I was asleep at the time and when I felt the massive tremor I couldn’t move on or from the bed. When I managed to gather myself; the tremor had lasted 10 minutes.

“Eventually, when it stopped everybody had to run outside and I was still in shock, I was panting and my heart rate was intense.

“I was rushed to the hospital, I’m better now and I feel strong Today, but I’m just relieved that nobody was injured,” Azu told footballlive.ng

 

The former Södertälje FK player said he was given a two day rest period by the club after a through examination by doctors and he has since taken part in a light training session with the team on Saturday.

 

Former Super Eagles Head Coach, Augustine Eguavoen as the Technical Director and Head Coach of the third division Greek side.

 

Zakynthos do not play this weekend, but several other matches across Greece have been cancelled as a result of the earthquake.
