Trent Alexander-Arnold from ballboy in Liverpool’s infamous loss in 13/14 to Liverpool’s fullback

Sunday’s fixture lived up to the drama that unfolded when Steven Gerrard’s slip allowed in Demba Ba for the opening goal in the dying seconds of the first half, something Liverpool’s full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold recalls vividly as he stood on the Anfield touchline as a ballboy that day.

Five years on from that infamous day, 27 April 2014, and the Blues are once again hoping to spoil the party.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was 15 years-old and a ballboy at the game, he was just yards away from the moment Liverpool’s hopes went up in smoke, standing near the touchline.

Reminiscing Trent Alexander-Arnold said, “I was on the halfway line with a horrible view of what happened…”

Five years after, with the switch now flipped, with him playing on the field as part of the Liverpool team and not a ball boy standing on the touchline Trent Alexander-Arnold believes “hopefully we’ll be able to make things right and it’ll be us that wins 2-0.”
