Udoh not thinking about top scorer award

Akwa United’s star striker Mfon Udoh says he’s happy with his scoring form so far this season but insists he’s not desperate to finish as the highest goal scorer but to help his side achieve their objectives at the end of the season.

Udoh who holds the record (23) for the most goals in a single Nigeria Professional Football League season scored his seventh of the campaign in the Promise Keepers 2-2 draw away to Ladan Bosso’s Gombe United on Sunday.

The former Enyimba goal poacher told the media after his side’s 2-2 draw at Pantami Stadium on Sunday that he’s not looking at the scoring chart at the moment, while also thanking the technical crew led by Rafael Everton and his teammates for his scoring feat.

“Honestly I am not thinking about the goal scorer’s chart, I am just enjoying my game,”

“Fortunately the goals keep coming. Today we are glad to have a draw against Gombe United. It was a game we could have won but we still thank God that we are able to run away with a point.

“I am so glad about my goalscoring form in which I have scored in our last four games both home and away. I praise God for the feat and I also thank my teammates and the coaches for a good job.”

Udoh’s goals have helped Akwa United to keep retain the third position in Group B of the top-flight with 16 points from 10 games after a slow start to the season.
