Why I wear make up on Matchdays – Franscisca Ordega

Super Falcons winger Francisca Ordega has explained why she loves wearing make up for matches.

Ordega is one of the few Super Falcons who usually appeared in full makeup and fancy hairstyle during matches and has been widely criticized for the act by some fans.

 

 

It would be recalled that Ordega was involved in a war of word with a fan on social media after he criticized her make Up at the 2019 Women ’s World Cup group stage match against which Norway won which ended in a  3 -0 defeat.

 

 

While speaking with www.Cornerstonenewsng.comin live Instagram session, Ordega said female footballers usually endured a lot of negative comments from fans and she believes it’s important they look good while doing their job.

 

 

“I love to make up before again, most people think we female footballer are not pretty, we are ugly, they talk us down and body shame us.”

 

 

“So when I’m going to the field, I just want them to see the feminine part of us, it’s my job and I must look good.”

 

 

“Many people may choose not to, but I love wearing my make up and to give people what to talk about because football is also part of the entertainment.” She told brila.net.

 

 

Ordega represented the Nigerian women’s national football team at all levels. With the under 17, she played the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and with the under 20 at 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

 

At the senior level, she played in the FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments of 2011, 2015, and 2019.

 

 

The Benue state born attacker opened her World Cup account by scoring Nigeria’s equalizing goal against Sweden on 8 June 2015 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The match ended 3–3 in draw.

 

 

She was also part of Nigeria’s squad at the African Women’s Championship of 2010 and 2014, winning both tournaments, She was also a member of the Nigerian squad who won the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations in Ghana, A tournament where she had two goals and two assists and won the woman of the match award at the final game against South Africa.
