Wilfred Zaha gets philanthropist award

Ivory Coast forward and Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha was handed a philanthropist award at the Football for the Peace initiative.

Receiving the award Zaha said ‘I’m proud of what my mum and I have achieved and looking forward to continuing our work in the UK and Ivory Coast.’

The non-governmental organization arranges Peace Matches and training schemes to educate children from faiths in order to challenge discrimination.

In 2015, Wilfried Zaha confirmed that he donated 10per cent of his salary to charity and says ‘my mother makes certain that I do’.

Other than spreading the football for peace message, In 2018, Wilfried Zaha donated a ‘substantial financial contribution’ to support Crystal Palace Ladies’ amateur players, who reportedly were in a position where they faced not being able to represent the club any longer if they could not each raise £250 in sponsorship or put up the money themselves.
