An 11-year-old housemaid, Chinyere, has been battered and molested for failing to pick up her madam’s child from school on time.
Chinyere sustained severe injuries after her madam, identified as Mrs. Obi, allegedly used a hot electric pressing iron on her body.
The incident happened in Asaba, Delta State capital, where the suspect who hails from Anambra State resides.
A human rights activist, Marvin Mordi, who raised the alarm on the alleged child abuse and domestic violence, petitioned the state Commissioner of Police, calling for a thorough investigation.
Mordi, the Director-General of Justice for All Citizens, described the act as man’s inhumanity against man, saying that the suspect has been arrested by the police, but that some powerful persons were attempting to obstruct justice.
In the said petition, Mordi accused Mrs. Obi of attempted murder, child battering, and child molestation.
