Zamalek Club President bans Players from Social Media

Zamalek SC President Mortada Mansour has warned the Club players to steer clear off social media or face sanctions.

The controversial Zamalek President, who’s known for his outspoken personality, warned off the players, to choose between the club or their social media activities.

In a video, released on his official Youtube channel, the 67-year-old addressed team, with one key issue being their social media habits.

“None of you are a allowed to have a Facebook page,” Mansour said, as translated from Arabic.

“Pick between Zamalek and your Facebook and Instagram page.

“Whoever opens a social media page I will fine him half his salary, and every time you post you will be fined.”

Mansour’s latest antic is believed to be related to Goalkeeper, Mahmoud Abdel “Genesh” Rahim’s social media rant over unpaid wages.

Per Oluwashina Okeleji [BBC Sport], GK Genesh was transfer-listed after he took to social media to complain over unpaid wages.

Zamalek play El Mokawloon on Saturday, after the Cairo derby with Al Ahly was postponed due to reported security concerns.
