Isaac Akin, 48, and Folarin Rafiu, 40, were yesterday docked before Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court over alleged rape of an 18-year-old girl and sexual assault of a five-year-old girl, respectively.
The police charged Akin, who resides at Alapere, Ketu, Lagos, with rape while Rafiu, who resides at Ojodu area of Lagos, is charged with indecent treatment of a child.
Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje, who did not take the plea of the defendants, ordered the prosecution to send the case files to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice and adjourned the case of Akin until September 24 and Rafiu’s case until September 9, for mention.
The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Bisi Ogunleye, told the court that Akin raped the teenager sometime in 2015 at his residence and warned her not to tell anybody.
The offence contravenes the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which attracts life imprisonment for any convicted offender.
The Prosecution Counsel also told the court that Rafiu sexually molested the minor on July 18 at his residence and the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which attracts seven years jail term.
