Over 20 bank staff are presently in police detention in Lagos State.
Authoritative police source said the bankers were arrested from different offences of fraud .
The senior police officer said :”In Special Police Fraud unit,Ikoyi, Lagos,six bankers are being interrogated for fraud .They were picked up following the petitions from either the banks or costumers defrauded by the bankers. At Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad,Ikeja ,five bank staff are facing interrogation.
The Anti Fraud unit of State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, about 10 bank staff are also being interrogated. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC ),is dealing with so many cases of fraud committed by bankers.
A particular bank has been giving the police problems. I don’t know how the bank managed to employ criminals as staff.We are investigating the bank.We don’t understand why the bank is giving us problems .in fact, customers money are not safe in the bank”.
