2019 AFCON – Alloy Agu says Eagles will go far in Egypt

Super Eagles goalkeeper’s trainer Alloy Agu has expressed confidence in the current crop of players in the national team, stating that they will go far in Egypt later this year due to the hunger, passion as well as zeal to make a name for themselves and for the country.

The three-time African champions will make a return to the tournament after missing out on the previous two editions in 2015 and 2017.

The Super Eagles qualified as group leaders during the Afcon qualifiers despite missing two of their most experienced players in John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses who retired after the World Cup last summer.

Speaking with www.brila.net, Alloy further added that he foresees the Eagles going far at the Mundial, but would not say how far they would go.

“The team is a very young team and the hunger is in them, they are gearing to make a name for themselves as well as for Nigeria, so they are determined”.

“When you have a team that wants to make a name for themselves and for their country and are determined and young as well as with some experience in the team, then you know you’re going to go far in the tournament”.

Nigeria kick-off their campaign against Burundi on June 22 before they slug it out with Guinea four days later and wrap up their Group B games against Madagascar on June 30.
