President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation Daniel Igali has stated that he is hopeful of Nigeria’s wrestling duo of Odunayo Adekuruoye and Blessing Oburududu ahead of their participation at the Turkey ranking series after the two wrestlers left Nigeria for Turkey Tuesday night alongside national women coach Akuh Purity.
Igali speaking in a chat with brila.net said he hopes the two Nigeria’s most established athletes will pick up valuable exposure and lessons ahead of the Africa games as well as the world championship later this year.
He also added that the Federation would have loved to go with more wrestlers to enhance Nigeria’s medal chances but decided to go with the top two who has always guaranteed medals for Nigeria.
“Our aim has always been to expose some of our most prominent athletes but because of the funding challenges we have, our focus has been on Odunayo, Aminat Adeniyi and Blessing Oburududu.
We just hope that this exposure will in no small way help them and boost the confidence of the athletes for the Africa games as well as the world championship.”
