Ogunkoya advocates support for athletes

Former Nigeria international athletes Falilat Ogunkoya has stated that athletes need to be monitored and thoroughly supported so that they can keep been in the top and competitive shape.

Ogunkoya speaking in a chat with brila.net said she is indeed worried because of what the situation could portend to athletes ahead of the newly rescheduled date for the 2021 Olympics.
She added that not having this athlete on support schemes could really affect the chances of Nigeria at the Olympics next year.
“I am very worried because to be a champion, it’s not something that you just wake up one day to do. It takes a few years, it takes good people to monitor you.
There is no Olympics, there is no national sports festival and before we know some will just quit if we don’t manage it very well.  And it’s going to affect us in the Olympics next year if we don’t manage it very we because all these athletes you see, they don’t collect salary from anywhere. Their salary comes from when they go and do a track meet.”
