Lagos State was very unlucky in the final, a victim of bad officiating at the final of the games vividly evident in Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi’s remark calling their silver medal a golden silver to uplift the spirit of the athletes.

In the history of the National Sports Festival when it was moved to Abuja and then Lagos, football final most especially in the male category, the host has always been the winner of the gold medal at the expense of other states.

Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi in his speech commended the efforts of the players, for making the state proud, saluted the Lagos State Sports Commission commitment, Lagos State Governor, and the man in charge of the technical sector, Mr Dotun Coker.

He further urged the player that education must be added to their football career as education and football gives a player an edge over their contemporaries as he presented the team with an open cheque, assuring the players of legal assistance for the players in every sector of their lives and granting scholarships

It was such a nice event as the players gave their word and appreciated the Lagos State ministry.
