The five Catholic nuns that were kidnapped by gunmen last Thursday in Agbor, Delta State, have regained their freedom.

The nuns were returning from a burial in the eastern part of the country when the private vehicle they were traveling in was intercepted by gunmen who shot at the vehicle, injuring two of the nuns in the process.

A priest in the Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku wrote: “Sr. Celine Anikwem, MMM (Area Leader) wishes to announce to all the safe release and return of four MMM sisters this evening, October 27, 2018, at 4 pm.

“Our God is faithful. Thank you for your prayers, masses, calls, and solidarity during the trying period. May God bless us and protect us from all harm. Amen.”
