Nigeria Professional Football League side, Abia Warriors has reached agreement with coach Abdullahi Biffo to take charge of the team ahead the coming 2019/2020 NPFL season.
Biffo who managed Katsina United last season is expected arrive Umuahia later today ( Wednesday ) and sign his contract papers to replace Emmanuel Deutsch who guided the club above relegation waters last season.
Deutsch, returned to Abia Warriors after reaching an agreement with the management of Delta Force to end his contract, but the Umuahia based club claimed the is not committed, unwilling to sign contract extension and was rumored to be negotiation with other teams.
“Our working relationship with him was fantastic, even when he worked with us few seasons ago when he took the team through 10-match unbeaten run,”
“Even when he came back from Delta Force last season, we had it good as we escaped relation under his guidance.
“On the strength of that, we offered to renew his contract and our chairman told him on that last match day that his (new contract) papers were ready so he can come up and sign.
“But he was not forthcoming. We waited but couldn’t see him but later understood he went for both Lobi Stars, Heartland and Akwa United job interviews.
“And under that circumstance, no serious club management would sit back and be waiting while he uses the club as bargaining chip at other clubs.” Abia Warriors official said.
Biffo is not new to Abia Warrior, he replaced former Enyimba coachOkey Emordi at the club three seasons ago.
