African Games: NTF assures only the best will be selected

The very best of Nigeria tennis stars will be selected for the Country’s participation for the 2019 African Games Technical Director of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Coach Rotimi Akinloye has assured.

Currently 16 players (8 male and 8 female) are engaged in intensive preparation for the Games under the watchful eyes of the experienced Coach and former Nigeria number one men’s player, Abdulmumin Babalola.

 

Abdulmumin, who is now the national junior team Coach, led Nigeria’s team to the first ever African Beach Games in Cape Verde last month.

 

Concerning the selected players, as per Tennis_ng, the NTF Technical Director insists “We put all this into consideration, bearing in mind we are going to play on clay, which is a different ball game.

 

“I think we have done a great job and we will continue to do a great job to make sure Nigeria is well represented and coming out with medals.”

 

Only 8 players will be selected to fly Nigeria’s flag in the Tennis event at the African Games which gets underway on August 16.

Players invited:

MEN

Sylvester Emmanuel, Joseph Imeh, Emmanuel Sunday, Nonso Madueke, Musa Mohammed, Godgift Timibra, Emmanuel Idoko, and Thomas Otu.

WOMEN

Barakat Quadri, Christie Agugbom, Blessing Samuel, Aanu Aiyegbusi, Jumai Mohammed, Bukola Olowu, Omolade Aderemi and Omolayo Bamidele.
