Akinwumi laments Covid-19 impact on Nigerian Football

First Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation Barrister Seyi Akinwumi has lamented the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the world and Nigeria Football describing the impact as a very tough one that has affected everyone connected to the game in Nigeria.

Akinwumi speaking in a chat with www.brila.net highlighted the impact of the Covid-19 lockdown on the Calendar of programs for the Football Federation, the Nigeria League which was suspended, the impact on existing and potential sponsors, the effects on Government and the national teams as well with qualifying matches postponed in the process.
He described the present situation as a very tough one for everybody.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has been very traumatic to the Football community not just in Nigeria but the world over. It affected Nigeria a great deal because we are part of the football community.
The leagues have been had to be suspended, the sponsors are already affected, Government is affected so it is really traumatic time for Football. All our international matches which should have been played have been suspended indefinitely, it is really tough time.”
