Al Ahly extends Cup record! Junior Ajayi nets brace in five-goal thriller

Milutin Sredojević was on course to pick a second silverware as Zamalek Head Coach, on Friday night, but Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi did not get the memo.

Ajayi netted a brace, his first since December 2018, as Al Ahly defeated Zamalek SC 3-2 in the Egypt Super Cup.

The former 3SC forward opened the floodgates in the five-goal thriller, with his first of two goals in the opening 19 minutes.

Hussein El Shahat doubled (45+3′) for The Red Devils before Ajayi scored his second and Al Ahly’s third (48′), his side coasting to a record extending 11th Super Cup.

But Zamalek were not going to take it lying down, as Mahmoud Alaa restored some hope for The White Knights, scoring in the 64th and 76th (Penalty).

However, they couldn’t find that vital third goal and Al Ahly shut the back door to clinch their first silverware of the season.
