Amapakabo blames Referees for Abia Warriors form

Abia Warriors head coach Imama Amapakabo is unhappy with his side’s defeat to Sunshine Stars on Sunday and has blamed poor officiating for the loss in Ijebu Ode.

Amapakabo’s side dominated the game but lost by a lone goal scored from the penalty spot in the second half.

Speaking after the game, Amapakabo said he’s disappointed with the officials and believes the penalty was a wrong call.

“When I played game like this, I feel pity for our football. When you travel by road for 14 hours and then you lose this way, then it is sad.”

“We played well, I think in the final third we weren’t able to stay calm and finish the chances.”

Abia Warriors now sits 15th on the standing with just points separating them from the relegation.

However, the former Super Eagles assistant coach opined that their position is a reflection of the bad officiating, but remain confident they will pull through.

“I do tell my players that numbers only matter when you have the goals and get behind the lines, the players that came on didn’t do well.”

“It’s been tough on us, I don’t want to talk about officiating, but it’s been like this for sometime. We just keep the team where it belong at the end,” He said.
