Aribo Targets His First Goal At Home Against The Squirrels

Glasgow Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has revealed his intention to score in front of Nigerian fans if he gets the nod to play against the Squirrels of Benin in 2021 AFCON qualifier today.

Aribo who was born in Camberwell, London has started his international career on a good note after scoring a goal each in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Ukraine as well the 1-1 draw against the Samba Boys of Brazil in the friendly matches that were played in September and October respectively.

However, the former Charlton Athletic midfielder opened up on his connection to Nigeria and hopes the Super Eagles start the 2021 AFCON qualifiers on a winning note.

“Am eager to play in front of our home fans. I can’t wait. My wish for the game is a win and a goal like I did in last two games.”

“As a kid I visited Nigeria with my parents but that was a long time ago. My connection with Nigeria has always been there.”

Aribo was part of the Eagles evening training session yesterday and he will be looking forward to his first competitive debut for the Super Eagles.
