Awoniyi downplays Pressure on U23 Eagles

Mainz 05 of Germany and Nigeria’s U23 forward Taiwo Awoniyi has downplayed any form of pressure on the team stating that the team knows what is required of them ahead of today’s crucial second leg U23 AFCON qualifier against Sudan having lost 1-0 in the first leg.

Awoniyi speaking in a chat with brila.net said losing the first leg away from home was unfortunate but stated confidently that everyone is ready to up the ante against Sudan just to ensure the team secure its qualification at the expense of Sudan.
“It’s unfortunate we lost the game against Sudan in the first leg but there is always another chance and that comes up later today. We know how important this game is to the country and to us as players so we believe everyone is ready to give their all because everyone’s name is at stake here.”
