Babangida urges Nigerian clubs to emulate Kwara United in paying players despite lockdown

Tijani Babangida has called on league clubs in Nigeria to simply take a cue from NPFL side Kwara United FC and ensure that players are paid and have their welfare taken care of despite the Covid-19 induced lockdown that halted league the league and other sporting activities.

The former Nigeria international said this in a chat with  www.Cornerstonenewsng.comthat the players’ welfare shouldn’t be neglected at a crucial time like this and that the players union was happy to have recorded such a resounding feat with the Ilorin based side and hope other clubs will follow suit.
“Last week I got phone calls from Kwara united where the officials called me and revealed that we have paid all our players’ full salaries for almost two months getting to three months and we are not even playing matches and that is kudos for us players union.
Other clubs in Nigeria should emulate that.”
