Barca Bounce Back Vs Valencia, Set LaLiga Unbeaten Record

By James Agberebi:

Barcelona bounced back from their disappointing exit from the UEFA Champions League last week with a nervy 2-1 win against Valencia in the Spanish LaLiga on Saturday.

The win preserves Barcelona’s unbeaten run after 32 league games with six games remaining. Barcelona have also set an all-time LaLiga record of going undefeated in 39 straight games.

A goal in each half from Luis Suarez and Samuel Umtiti, both from Philippe Coutinho assists, gave Barcelona the win.

Suarez opened scoring for Barcelona in the 15th minute off a defence splitting pass from Coutinho as he ran to the ball and slotted past Neto in goal for Valencia.

In the 51st minute, Umtiti made it 2-0 as he rose highest to head in Coutinho’s corner.

Valencia got a lifeline as they pulled a goal back in the 87th minute through a Daniel Parejo penalty following a foul by Umtiti inside the box.

Leaders Barcelona are now on 82 points in the table, 14 points ahead of Atletico Madrid who are second, while Valencia are third on 65 points, just a point above fourth-placed Real Madrid.

Up next for Barcelona is a trip to the Estadio de Balaidos where they will face Celta Vigo in a league game on Tuesday.
