Rivers Hoopers have crashed out of the Africa Basketball League following Sunday’s 91-70 defeat to JS Kairouan in their final group A game.
For the second consecutive game, Abdul Yahaya delivered double figures, to clinch a team-high 22points, but his effort was not to carry the Kings Men over the line.
A stark contrast from the qualifiers where they breezed past all the opposition to record a 5-0, the ABL turned out to be a very brief campaign for the FIBA Africa Zone 3 champions.
They lost their first game by a massive 29 points in the 88-59 defeat to holders AS Sale.
Then redemption came in the form of a nervy 76-75 win, against S.L.A.C and it put them on the verge of progressing to the elite 8.
However, the masterstroke from Tunisian side JS Kairouan means the Hoopers will make just a quick exit from the competition.
