Super Falcons midfielder Francisca Ordega said she will continue to give her best to the team after helping the eight time African champions to a 4:0 win over the Shepolopolo of Zambia on Wednesday.
The Falcons suffered opening day defeat to South Africa on Sunday but bounced back to winning ways against the Zambians with Ordega at the heart of the win, As she scored a goal and created another to take home the Woman of the Match award.
The midfielder, however revealed that the disappointment of the defeat to the Bayana Bayana of South inspired her performance against the Bruce Mwape girls.
“I was not expecting to win the award . I can ’ t tell exactly what I did or I didn ’ t do in the match but I know that receiving this award is not about me – rather it is about the team and my teammates , ” she said .
“The last match before this was terrible for me and as a professional I am not happy with that – no one would . It was not the best game for me or my teammates or the Nigerians who support the team.
After the game , I told myself that as one of the experienced members of the team, who the younger ones are looking up to, I have to improve my performance in the next game.“
“I did that and we were able to get the three points , which was very important .I know I still have to do more to help the team and I will keep doing that .”
The Super Falcons who are second on the table will take on Equatorial Guinea in last Group B game on Saturday.
