Brazil’s Cristiane Rozeira beats Cristiano’s world Cup hat-trick record

Brazil striker Cristiane Rozeira de Souza Silva popularly called Cristiane became the oldest person to score a hat-trick at the men and women world cup tournament, as her treble handed debutants Jamaica a 3-0 loss at the 2019 FIFA women world cup.

The South American champion, Cristiane, who plays her club football in Brazil for Sao Paulo, beat the record held by Cristiano Ronaldo, who was 33 years and 130 days old when he scored a hat-trick in Portugal’s 3-3 draw with Spain at the men’s World Cup in Russia in June 2018.

 

The very experienced prolific forward has played professionally in France, Germany, Sweden, the United States, Russia and South Korea.

 

In the absence of legendary forward Marta who happens to be the all-time leading scorer in Women’s World Cups, Cristiane at 34 have stepped up to fill the shoes of Marta for her Brazilian team scoring the first hat-trick at France 2019.

 

She was part of Brazil’s silver medal-winning teams at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic football tournaments. In total she has participated in four FIFA Women’s World Cups and four editions of the Olympic Games. Cristiane who started playing football at 15 have 93 international goals with Brazil.
