Nigeria’s Special Eagles, the amputee football team were recently robbed, when their store room where kits and other playing equipment are kept was broken into.
In February, the players and coaches, who had returned from last year’s World Cup in Mexico, were presented with football jerseys, crotches and balls ahead of their continental campaign in Angola.
However, barely a month later, the equipment and jerseys were reported stolen, following a break-in into the team’s store house at the National Stadium Lagos.
Several players gave accounts of seeing a security personnel wearing one of the kits.
Meanwhile, Assistant Coach Gbenga Dosumu shared the horrific story of the break in.
“The kit that was given to us (by a bet company) was stolen from the store where we kept them, some months ago, and we’ve related the situation to the Nigeria Police command Area C,” He told brila.net
“We are hoping they’ll find the culprits, it’s just an unfortunate situation.”
