CAF Confederations Cup: Enyimba Players cry out over outstanding bonuses

According to reports, Enyimba players are not happy with the management of the Club over unpaid match bonuses and calling on them to approve the payment of their outstanding bonuses.

The People’s Elephants have a mountain to climb after  0-1 first leg defeat at the newly renovated Aba township stadium , but the players believed with right motivation from Club and State Government they can turn the result around.

However, Efforts to get some of the players to speak on the matter proved abortive as they were not comfortable talking to the press, owning it to fear being reprimanded by the two time CAF Champions league winners management who are said to be looking for a way out.

“They may think we’re out of the competition, but I can assure you that we have the calibre of players to turn the tide in Morocco on the 24th of this month.

This is not the first time we have been written off only for us to bounce back to shock the entire nation. After all, nobody gave this team a chance from the beginning,” one of the players disclosed.

Another insider who also pleaded for anonymity said –

“In all honesty, the state government has tried, at least in the area of transforming the Enyimba Stadium into a world-class facility it is today. But all the players are asking is for the Governor to come out fully and support the players who see him as a father.

“I can tell you that if these boys get what they want, they are ready to die in Morocco, just to get to the finals of the competition and win the cup for Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

The CAF Confederation Cup is the only elusive trophy yet to be seen in Enyimba’s trophy-laden cabinet. The club, therefore, needs the trophy badly.

It would be recalled that the Enyimba played four matches in nine days, before the CAF Confederations Cup first leg.

“The players are human beings after all. So, the governor and the Enyimba management know what they need to do for the boys to get a good result in Morocco. A stitch in time saves nine.

Enyimba has done it before in Africa and can still do it again,” our source added…
