Covid-19: BAL postpones kick-off of inaugural league

Nigeria representative, Rivers Hooper’s will wait to make their debut in the inaugural league as The Basketball Africa League (BAL) today postponed the kick-off of the regular season, which had been scheduled to tip-off Friday, March 13 in Dakar, Senegal.

Amadou Gallo Fall, BAL’s President explained the reason for the postponement “Following the recommendation of the Senegalese government regarding the escalating health concerns related to the coronavirus, the BAL’s inaugural season will be postponed.

 

I am disappointed we are not able to tip-off this historic league as scheduled but look forward to the highly-anticipated launch of the BAL at a later date.”

 

This development comes two days after Rivers Hooper’s secured their 4th signing- Nigerian Guard Uchenna “UC” Iroegbu who played with Stockton Kings in the NBA G League.

 

 

Rivers Hoopers have been in camp over a month in preparation for their contest in the Nile conference against FAP (Cameroon), Ferroviário de Maputo (Mozambique), Patriots BBC (Rwanda), Zamalek (Egypt), US Monastir (Tunisia).
