Derby County Releases Efe Ambrose Efe After Four Months

Nigeria defender Efe Ambrose was among the players released English Championship side Derby County at the end of the 2018/2019 season.

The Rams narrowly missed out of promotion to the premier league after a narrow defeat to Aston Villa in the Championship playoff final few weeks back and the Club has began preparations for next season, with manager, Frank Lampard looking to rebuild the squad.

 

Ambrose who joined the Rams in February after leaving his Scottish club Hibernian on free transfer failed to make a single appearance for the Club in all competitions, as he dimmed not fit enough by the coaching staff.

 

It was reported that boss, Frank Lampard has told the board that the Nigerian does not feature in his plan for next season after failing to convince him in training.

 

Apart from Ambrose, the Club also released former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole, David Nugent, Alex Pearce, and Marcus Olsson.

 

Ambrose who won the 2013 African Cup of Nations and featured at the 2014 World Cup with Nigeria also won the Scottish league title with giants Celtic.
