Emery explains Saka omission in Europa league win against vitoria Guimaraes

Arsenal’s manager Unai Emery has explained his decision to omit Nigerian born English young forward Bukayo Saka from the team that defeated Vitoria Guimaraes at Emirates Stadium on Thursday.

Emery made 10 changes from the team that lost to Sheffield United in the Premier League on Monday for the visit of the Portuguese side in Europa league.

 

Although, the Spaniard later brought on Matteo Guendouzi and Dani Ceballos at half-time, Pepe who made the difference with 10 minutes left on the clock.

 

On Saka and other nine players that lost their starting spot for the Europa league game , Emery said : “Our aim in this competition is to top the group. Each match is a chance to use different players and grow experience and little by little get better.”

 

“We didn’t play like we wanted but we showed good spirit. It’s a good victory. Some players need experience and playing under pressure at this level.”

 

Since scoring and assisting other two in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Eintrach Frankfurt in the first Europa league Group F game, Saka has enjoyed good spell in the first team.
