Nigerian and Genk striker Stephen Odey has dedicated his maiden UEFA goal in the UEFA Champions League to his mother.
Odey’s mother celebrated her birthday on Tuesday , a day before the striker bagged his first goal for the Club since his move from FC Zurich of Switzerland.
The Dream Team VII forward replaced comparatriot Paul Onuachu in the second half of Felice Mazzu’s side clash with defending champions Liverpool at the Luminus Arena.
“Not the result we wanted but it ended that way. Hoping to get a better result in our next meeting and a goal. I will like to dedicate my first @ChampionsLeague goal to my mum who marked her birthday on Tuesday as a birthday gift. Thanks for guiding me in the right path,” he said via his Twitter handle.
The 21-year-old scored the consolation goal in the 88th minute, after Liverpool had scored on four occasions.
