Ex international athletes Aliu advice athletes against Covid-19 palliative grants

Ex Nigeria international athletes Deji Aliu has urged Nigerian based athletes not to bother applying for the Covid-19 palliative grant after a circular signed by estranged AFN president Alh Ibrahim Gusau calling on athletes to apply for consideration for financial assistance from the world Athletics governing body.

Aliu speaking in a chat with www.Cornerstonenewsng.comsaid the grants are for top foreign-based athletes with a proven track record that sees them occupy at least the top 50 positions in athletics without which application will simply be futile.
“If I’m to advise athletes out there, I will tell them that it’s not really for every tom dick and harry, it’s only for those established ones that are plying their trade in Europe because of this Covid-19 as everything those that couldn’t compete in Europe because of the pandemic.
So I will just tell them based on your performance, if you know you’re not in the top 50 in the world, don’t even bother applying.”
