Ex Olympic gold medalist Enefiok task home based athletes to strive for more

Former Nigerian athlete and Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medalist Enefiok Udo Obong has tasked home bases Nigerian athletes to continue to strive for more and work harder stressing that athletes are able to make good use of opportunities when they are themselves well prepared and on top of their game.

Enefiok told brila.net in a chat that the current case of Divine Oduduru should inspire a lot of home-based athletes to be positive driven and continue to work hard.
He said Oduduru’s recent success running a sub 10 after about a decade from any Nigerian athlete should inspire them to also believe in themselves.
“Divine has worked hard, Divine didn’t start today, he came into the national limelight in 2013 as a junior. Those that are junior should continue to work hard because the opportunity will surely come and it will be left for them to grab it.
“So the issue is work hard and by the time the opportunity comes, you will be ready for it.”
Enefiok thereafter said Nigeria is blessed with abundant talents to get things right in athletics.
