Exclusive! Okagbare Bought me the first Spike Shoes – Oduduru

Nigerian Sprint sensation, Divine Oduduru has credited former African champion Blessing Okagbare as “one of the biggest motivation” in his career.

Oduduru broke into limelight five years ago, at the 2014 World Junior Championships, where he won silver with the spike shoes Okagbare bought him, as he recounts his budding years in a chat with www.Cornerstonenewsng.com.

“The first spike shoes I won a medal with; at the 2014 World Junior Athletics championships, was bought for me by Blessing Okagbare,” the National 200 metres record-holder revealed.

Oduduru, 23, made his debut as a pro-Athlete on the circuit this year in the Diamond League and later represented Nigeria at the World Championships in Doha.

He spoke, emotionally, about growing up in Sapele as a student and Oduduru said he always knew he’d be an Athlete, but not as prominent as he has become.

“When I was growing up I saw myself going into athletics, but I never thought I would get to this point.

“Through primary and secondary school I was a runner and I even represented Nigeria in secondary school. But I don’t think my story is complete without Evangelist Solomon Ogba and Blessing Okagbare.”
