Cech out of retirement helping young players achieve their dreams

Former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech at 37 signed for National Ice Hockey League team, Guildford Phoenix as a netminder.

The former legend who grew up playing Ice Hockey as a child is a big fan of the sport and is determined to inspire his new team at the NIHL Ice Hockey Team part of Guildford Junior Ice Hockey Club to win trophies.

 

The Czech, after 20years dedicated to playing football is making his debut in Ice Hockey.

 

“I hope I can help this young team achieve their goals for the season and try to win as many games as possible when I have the chance to play. After 20 years of professional football, this is going to be a wonderful experience for me to play the game I loved to watch and play as a kid.”

 

Cech, who won four Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League and Europa League will combine playing Ice Hockey with his role at Chelsea.

 

Guildford Phoenix play in the second tier of British ice hockey.
