Falcons coach Dennerby says team must step up against Ghana

Coach of Nigeria’s women national team Thomas Dennerby has stated that the Super Falcons must step things up ahead of today’s WAFU women’s cup of nations semi final tie against the Black Queens of Ghana as both nation rekindle rivalry in a repeat of the pairing that saw Ghana beat Nigeria at the last edition of the WAFU women’s cup of nations at this same stage.
Dennerby speaking ahead of the clash said the Super Falcons have had it good all along but awaits a sterner test in Ghana hence the need to ensure the team step play up a notch higher than whatever they must have done in the course of the ongoing tournament so far.
“We know that Ghana is a good team and if we want to be in that game, we have to perform so much better. We need to do everything better – the defence have to be better, the attacking game have to be better and we have to step up. The expectation on this team is very high from us in the technical crew and also from home. We definitely have to put more heart into the game.”
Nigeria’s coach Dennerby suffered his first tournament exit from Ghana after losing out on penalties at the semi final stage of the WAFU women’s cup last time out in Ivory coast.
