The manager of NENCO filling station at Okpuno Nnewichi, Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra state was on Wednesday stabbed to death by a director in the company.
It was gathered that trouble started when the director(names withheld), told the manager to immediately provide the sum of N40,000 which he said was missing from the company’s account.
The manager was said to have begged the director who incidentally employed him in the company to bear with him as he was yet to harmonise the account.
It was gathered that the manager also pleaded with his master to either exercise patience with him or deduct the missing money from his November salary, but the director threatened to do the unexpected if the manager did not provide the money immediately.
A witness Bobby said, ” we thought they would resolve the differences, but before we knew what was happening, Oga used a screwdriver to stab manager in the stomach and he fell down. We and our master who was confused rushed manager to the Rose of Sharon Specialist Hospital, along Oba Rd., Nnewi, where the doctors on duty confirmed him dead.
” Immediately the director noticed that manager had died, he took to his heels, but he was later arrested by the police. The deceased was deposited at a public mortuary in Nnewi by the police.
The Anambra State Police spokesman, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the story and the arrest of the suspect, adding that he was still waiting for a proper briefing.
