Former Golden boy Chrisantus Macauley joins HJK Helsinki

Nigeria forward Chrisantus Macauley has promised to do his very best in order to rain goals with his new club, HJK Helsinki as he says scoring lots of them is what he is paid to do.

The 2007 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner’s professional career has been far from impressive after he was released by Hamburger in 2012.

Last season, Chrisantus scored nine goals in 24 appearances for Real Murcia in Segunda Division B.

Chrisantus was officially unveiled by the club after passing a routine medical and signed a four-month deal with the option of a year extension, based on his performance.

Though the terms appear steep, the 27-year-old striker, who has also previously played in Germany, Turkey and Greece, said he is confident that he will score goals for the team.

Chrisantus stressed: “HJK is not a small club. So I’m very happy to be joining them at this crucial point of my career.

“I believe it will be the turning point in my career after so many ups and downs. The club signed me to score goals and that is what I intend to do by the grace of God.

“My record is there for everybody to see. Once I play, I score and I’m in my best shape ever. So expect plenty of goals from me.”
