Former Wolfsburg striker hit out at Nigeria Football Federation over Rohr’s contract

Former Nigerian striker Jonathan Akpoborie has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to take the contract saga of the Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr away from the media.

 

The Franco-German tactician’s contract talks have dominated the media space for sometimes now, with Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick revealing that the experienced coach’s new deal with being domesticated.

 

Akpoborie, however, opined that the current contract talks are capable of distracting the team and urged the Federation to sort the issue at the right time.

 

“This is not the right time for the Nigeria Football Federation to start discussing the issue of contract extension or not with Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr,”

 

“Our attention at this point should be on how he will qualify the team for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. The German tactician has done well with the Super Eagles, and we can testify to it with the team’s victory against the Squirrels of Benin. He concluded.
