Tyson Fury’s victory over Otto Wallin last weekend came at the expense of him resting easy after 47 stitches to the eye injury sustained and it could hinder the Brit who is due to fight WBC Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder as early as February 2019.
Fury defeated Wallin by unanimous points decision, but he had endured some real bashing in the 12-round slugfest.
According to undefeated former two-weight world champ Andre Ward, Fury, 31, should wait out the Deontay fight and allow his stitched right eye heal, well.
The cuts sustained by were so deep the undefeated Lineal Heavyweight champ was rushed to the hospital where he got stitched 47 times and paid his Cutsman, Jorge Capetillo £3,000 for the nine minutes expert job the Mexican did on fight night.
Ward said, “Both guys feel like they got jobbed in the first fight.
“Wilder feels like it wasn’t a draw. Fury feels like he eked it out. We don’t want that kind of conversation after the rematch.
“Give the eye time to heal. Take a couple of extra months so we can give the fans, and the media what they want to see in the rematch.”
