Gunmen hijack 2 Abuja-bound passenger buses in Kogi,demand N15 million ransom from each passenger

 

Gunmen yesterday hijacked two Abuja bound buses in Kogi State and abducted the passengers.
The passengers were on their way to Abuja from the South East of the country.
The gunmen have also demanded N15 million ransom on each of the passengers .
However, Kogi State Commissioner of Police Mr. Bethrand Onuoha, has deployed police tactical teams to rescue the victims
A statement by Kogi State Police Publlic Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. William Ovye Aya, explained that : “The incident happened, but the police division in the , local vigilantes, and hunters have been in the bush trying to rescue the victims.
“The CP has deployed an additional tactical squad consisting of Quick Response Unit, Police Mobile Force, and Counter-Terrorism Unit, as well as conventional police personnel, to the area to continue with the bush combing and to ensure that the victims are rescued unhurt.”
According to a police source, one of the buses was left Umuahia, Abia state, at 7:30 a.m and was hijacked in Kogi State.
According to the transport company, security agencies had been contacted and they were already tracking the kidnappers.
The man whose wife was among the kidnapped passengers, said the kidnappers had contacted him, demanding for a N15 million ransom,“The kidnappers called this morning via my wife’s phone and were demanding N15 million,” he said
