Heartland swaps relegation places with Elkanemi Warriors on last day

Heartland of Owerri gave a last-minute push to gain survival in Nigerian top flight league on the last day of the 2018/19 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) abridged season at the expense of El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri.

Heartland condemned Warriors to relegation after a 2-0 win at the Okigwe Stadium in the winner takes all encounter. Penalties converted by Chukwudi Nwaodu 23’ and Uche Oguchi 82’ cemented the Naze Millionaires survival fight.
