Former Enyimba of Aba head coach Usman Abd’allah has hinted that he has no regret on how his time ended at the club.
Abd’allah arrived at the club as an assistant to former Flying Eagles boss Paul Aigbogun but was made the head coach after Aigbogun vacated his position to concentrate on his job with the Nigeria Football Federation.
Abd’allah later led the People’s Elephant to semi-final place in the CAF Confederations that season and won the Nigeria professional football league in his first full season with the two time CAF champions league winners.
Enyimba later struggled to defend their title in the following season, the bad form also saw them eliminated from the CAF champions league and dropped to the CAF second elite competition.
However, Abd’allah was sacked from his role and replaced with current caretaker boss Fatai Osho who has since revived the Club.
While speaking with www.Cornerstonenewsng.comon how his time ended with the record Nigerian league winners, Abdallah who is now in charge of Wikki Tourists, said he has not regret on how his time ended at the club and was already looking forward to quitting the team.
“I’m not disappointed, in fact, I was looking forward to leaving and I even offered to leave at the time.”
“I don’t think there’s something to win over there again because I don’t think we can win the continent, yes I can win the league but the one I won no one even say thank you, so I was only thinking about winning on the continent,” he told www.brila.net.
He continued: “I don’t think Enyimba is ready to win on the continent, they are not near ready to win on the continent.
Meanwhile few days after his departure from Enyimba, Abdallah was hired by Wikki Tourists and has been tasked to keep them in the elite division.
Abdallah revealed he signed just five months deal with the northern club, with better financial incentives than he got from Enyimba.
“On the financial side, two days later, I was offered something more than what they paid me so I’m not disappointed”. He concluded.
